Breakthrough in Gilgo Beach Serial Killings Case: Suspect Charged and Investigation Timeline Revealed

After more than a decade, a suspect has been charged in the Gilgo Beach serial killings cold case. Rex Heuermann, a New York architect, has been indicted on murder charges in connection with the killings of three women known as the "Gilgo Four." He is also the prime suspect in the disappearance and death of a fourth woman. Authorities built their case against Heuermann by surveilling him and his family, obtaining DNA samples from their trash, and analyzing cell phone and credit card records. The investigation, which involved multiple agencies, utilized genetic genealogy to identify one of the victims. Heuermann's arrest marks the first in the case, and authorities have hinted at the possibility of additional charges.
