Attempted Murder Charges Filed Against Inmate Who Stabbed Derek Chauvin 22 Times

John Turscak, a former gang leader and FBI informant, has been charged with attempted murder for stabbing Derek Chauvin, the ex-Minneapolis police officer convicted of killing George Floyd, 22 times in prison. Turscak, who is serving a 30-year sentence for crimes committed while a member of the Mexican Mafia prison gang, targeted Chauvin because of his notoriety. He claimed he wanted to attack Chauvin as a symbolic connection to the Black Lives Matter movement and the Mexican Mafia. Chauvin was taken to a hospital for treatment, and Turscak is now facing multiple charges, including assault with intent to commit murder.
