Accused Oregon Kidnapper Attempts Jail Escape, Authorities Say

Negasi Zuberi, the man accused of sexually assaulting and holding a sex worker captive in a cinder block cell in his Oregon garage, attempted to escape from jail. Zuberi faces charges of attempted escape and disorderly conduct. A maintenance worker heard a suspicious sound coming from Zuberi's cell, leading to the discovery of a damaged window and an improvised tool. Zuberi has been moved to a cell without windows. He was arrested last month after kidnapping the sex worker and is being investigated for other sexual assaults in multiple states.
