"Chinese Exchange Student Rescued in Utah Amidst Cyber Kidnapping Ordeal"

Chinese foreign exchange student Kai Zhuang was found alive in Utah after being the victim of a "cyber kidnapping" scam, where his parents were extorted for $80,000. He was discovered in a tent, cold and scared, with limited supplies and several phones that may have been used in the kidnapping. Riverdale Police had previously interacted with Zhuang but were unaware of the threat. The scam involved convincing Zhuang to isolate himself and fake evidence of his kidnapping, while his parents were manipulated into paying a ransom. Zhuang was rescued and requested to speak with his family and have a warm cheeseburger.
