"Massive Recall: Thousands of Portable Generators Pose Burn Injury Risk"

Generac is recalling approximately 64,000 portable generators due to a fire and burn hazard. The fuel tank of the recalled generators can fail to vent adequately, causing excess pressure and fuel expulsion when opened. At least three severe burn injuries have been reported. Consumers are advised to stop using the affected generators and contact Generac for a free repair kit. The recall includes portable generator types GP15000E and GP17500E, sold from April 2011 through June 2023. Generac recently agreed to pay a $15.8 million civil penalty for failing to report a defect in its portable generator models.
