Escalating Attacks in Southern Gaza: Israeli Army Surrounds Khan Younis

Israeli forces are surrounding the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip as part of the next phase of their ground offensive against Hamas. The Qassam Brigades, Hamas's armed wing, claimed to have engaged in fighting and destroyed army vehicles in Khan Younis. More than one million Palestinians have been displaced from northern Gaza, and families in Khan Younis are now being evacuated further south to Rafah. The World Health Organization warns that the situation is worsening, with increased bombing and the spread of diseases. The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees is struggling to provide for the growing number of internally displaced people in Rafah. Qatar's emir described the deaths of innocent Palestinians in Gaza as a "genocide committed by Israel."
