T-Mobile Acquires US Cellular's Wireless Operations for $4.4 Billion

T-Mobile will acquire most of US Cellular's wireless operations, including customers, stores, and 30% of its spectrum assets, in a $4.4 billion deal. The transaction, expected to close by mid-2025, aims to enhance T-Mobile's coverage and is funded through cash and up to $2 billion in debt. US Cellular will retain 70% of its spectrum and 4,400 telecom towers, with T-Mobile becoming a long-term tenant on 2,600 towers. The deal has received consent from US Cellular's major shareholder, Telephone and Data Systems.
