Tragic Illinois Truck Accident Claims Multiple Lives and Causes Ammonia Leak

A truck accident in Teutopolis, Illinois, resulted in multiple deaths and an ammonia leak, leading to the evacuation of hundreds of residents. The truck, carrying caustic anhydrous ammonia, overturned and spilled more than half of its 7,500-gallon load. Five people were killed, including three from the same family, and five others were seriously injured. Emergency crews worked to control the toxic substance and struggled with shifting winds. The National Transportation Safety Board will review the crash, and private and federal environmental contractors are en route to assist with cleanup.
