"AI Surpasses Human Skills in Classic Physical Games"

Researchers at ETH Zurich developed an AI robot named CyberRunner that broke the human world record in the classic wooden labyrinth marble maze game. The robot, equipped with motors, a camera, and a computer, used model-based reinforcement learning to improve its performance, ultimately completing the game in 14.48 seconds, surpassing the previous human record by over 6%. The robot's learning process, including its discovery of shortcuts and "cheating" strategies, has been made open-source to encourage further research. CyberRunner's achievement demonstrates AI's growing capability in physical skill-based tasks, not just intellectual games.
