The remake, announced in 2021, has faced significant development troubles, including a pause in progress and the departure of key team members. While it remains uncertain if and when the game will be released, insiders suggest a late 2022 release date targeted by the original developer, Aspyr, may not be realistic. Embracer has refused to comment on the status of the KOTOR remake amidst its own restructuring process.
