Sony clarifies PlayStation Portal's position as not a rival to Nintendo Switch

Sony's upcoming PlayStation Portable, designed for portable PS5 gaming, is not intended to compete with Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck, according to Sony boss Eric Lempel. Unlike the Switch, the PlayStation Portal requires an internet connection to stream content from the PS5. Despite the entry of various handheld devices into the gaming market, the Switch has remained successful, with nearly 130 million units sold worldwide as of June 30, 2023.
