Seven years after the release of Nier: Automata, director Yoko Taro has hinted at a potential sequel during a recent Nier orchestra concert in London, where he urged the audience to applaud for an Automata sequel in the presence of the Square Enix president. With Nier: Automata selling eight million units and the mention of "repent" and "R3PENT" during the concert, speculation about a sequel has been fueled. Nier producer Yosuke Saito has also hinted at more Nier games in the future, with a surprise planned for early 2024.
