Kadokawa, Owner of FromSoftware, Acquires Octopath Traveler Studio Acquire

Kadokawa Corporation, owner of FromSoftware, has acquired game developer Acquire to strengthen its ability to create intellectual property in games. Acquire, known for developing Octopath Traveler, will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Kadokawa. The acquisition aims to generate synergies with existing game-related subsidiaries, enhance planning and development capabilities, and expand the lineup of console games. Additionally, FromSoftware is focusing on improving profitability with major DLC for Elden Ring, while Spike Chunsoft plans to release Shiren the Wanderer 6. Tencent is reportedly developing an Elden Ring mobile game after acquiring licensing rights from FromSoftware.
