Glossy Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties: a remake with a troubling undercurrent

Yakuza Kiwami 3 and its Dark Ties prequel offer quirky charm and a raft of side-content, but the remake overstuffed with busywork and recycled ideas dilutes the story’s emotional weight. Mine’s deeper arc in Dark Ties helps, yet the portrayal of Kanda as a sexual predator—coupled with casting choices around Teruyuki Kagawa—casts a troubling shadow over the package. Despite entertaining moments and new minigames, the overall presentation feels uneven and compromised by these ethical missteps.
