Final Fantasy 14 is testing cross-region Data Centre travel for the first time to address server congestion issues, allowing players to hop between Data Centres in different regions ahead of the upcoming Dawntrail expansion. Square Enix is seeking community feedback during the testing phase, warning of potential lag when connecting to distant Data Centres. The game director, Naoki Yoshida, had previously expressed hesitancy about enabling this functionality, but the testing phase aims to identify and address technical issues before the expansion's release in summer 2024.
