"Ed Boon's Surprising Character Swap: Terence Fletcher Almost Made it to 'Mortal Kombat 1'"

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon revealed that he intended to add Terence Fletcher from the film Whiplash to Mortal Kombat 1 instead of Omni-Man. Boon admitted the confusion arose when he asked actor JK Simmons to portray "the most brutal character he's ever portrayed." Netherrealm Studios writers had already written pre-fight dialogue for Fletcher, including special lines for winning via timeout. Despite disappointment, plans are now underway to feature Fletcher in Kombat Pack 2, along with a cameo appearance by Miles Teller's Andrew Neiman.
