Dead Island 2 excludes co-op on base PS4 and Xbox One at launch.

Dead Island 2, which is finally releasing this week, won't allow "base" PS4 or Xbox One consoles to host co-op games due to graphical requirements. Players on these consoles can only join co-op games. The game is not cross-play, only cross-gen, and players within the same family of consoles can team up. The co-op option unlocks after 20-30 minutes of gameplay, and players cannot jump ahead in the story. The developers are working on giving the option to host on all consoles in the future.
