Cayde-6's Return in Destiny 2: The Final Shape Explained

Cayde-6, voiced by Nathan Fillion, is returning to Destiny 2 for the upcoming expansion, The Final Shape. The teaser trailer shows Cayde with a green glow emitting from his eyes and face chassis, and it seems to take place through the portal that the Witness cut into the Traveler. It is unclear how Cayde is "alive" or if this is some sort of purgatory. The Final Shape showcase will be on August 22, 2023, and it is implied that Destiny's future will be discussed then too.
