Bungie has debunked a conspiracy theory suggesting that the in-game power, Strand, was originally intended for Destiny 2's upcoming expansion, The Witch Queen. Destiny 2's director, Joe Blackburn, clarified that Strand was designed specifically for the Lightfall expansion and that it takes longer than a year to create a new damage type. He also explained that the green color of Strand was chosen to thematically connect with Lightfall's neon-colored world. Meanwhile, Destiny 2's next expansion, The Final Shape, is set to release in February 2023 and will feature the return of Cayde-6 and a shift from seasons to episodes.
