Bethesda's Rejection of Obsidian's Elder Scrolls Spin-Off Ideas

Obsidian co-founder Chris Avellone revealed that Bethesda rejected multiple proposals from the studio to develop more Fallout games and spin-offs for The Elder Scrolls series. Avellone stated that one of the proposed Elder Scrolls spin-offs was intended to provide more adventures in the setting during the years before the next Bethesda release, similar to how Fallout: New Vegas served as a bridge between Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. Despite the long wait between series entries, Bethesda's Todd Howard expressed hesitancy in outsourcing Fallout 5, emphasizing that Fallout is an integral part of the studio's DNA. Elder Scrolls 6 remains ahead of Fallout 5 in Bethesda's production queue.
