Amazon announces new Lord of the Rings MMO after first attempt's success

Amazon Games is partnering with Middle-earth Enterprises, now owned by Embracer Group, to create a new MMO based on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The project was initially cancelled due to complications with the previous developer's acquisition by Tencent. Amazon Games Orange County will lead development, drawing on lessons from their debut title, New World. The game will focus on stories and characters from both books, and Amazon aims to make it the largest MMO out there. The company is not in a rush to release the game and is focused on creating a great game that will last for over a decade.
