Activision Blizzard Acknowledges Declining Engagement in Overwatch 2 and Call of Duty

Activision Blizzard has acknowledged that engagement and player investment in Overwatch 2 have declined in its Q2 2023 earnings report. However, the publisher is hopeful that the upcoming major update, Overwatch 2: Invasion, releasing on August 10, will help address this issue. The update will introduce new PVE Story Missions, a game mode, a hero progression system, and an additional hero. Despite a strong start with over 35 million players in the first month, Overwatch 2 has faced controversies, including the cancellation of its PvE Hero mode.
