Mets Sign Grae Kessinger on Minor League Deal to Add Infield Depth

The New York Mets signed Grae Kessinger to a minor-league contract with a non-roster invitation to spring training, adding a right-handed-hitting, versatile infield option. The former Astros second-round pick batted .131 with one homer in 70 MLB plate appearances across 2023-24, and owns a .234/.335/.361 line over 403 minor-league games, including Triple-A in the hitter-friendly PCL. After being designated for assignment by Houston, traded to Arizona and released while injured, he’s healthy and will compete for a bench spot in Queens behind Ronny Mauricio and Vidal Bruján, with Christian Arroyo and Jackson Cluff also in the mix; Tsung-Che Cheng could join if he clears waivers from his DFA.
