Tragic Death of College Baseball Player During Dugout Disassembly.

Angel Mercado, a 19-year-old college baseball player, died after a makeshift dugout collapsed on him while he was helping to dismantle it. The dugout had been built by his coach for a summer recreation league game, but city officials had deemed it illegal. Mercado suffered a traumatic head injury and died in the hospital the following day. The Cumberland County coroner's office ruled the death an accident, and no charges will be filed.
