Sustainable tires tested at Detroit Grand Prix.

IndyCar racers at the Detroit Grand Prix are using tires made with sustainable materials and burning renewable fuel in their engines to reduce their environmental impact. The tires are made from rubber extracted from the guayule plant, which requires less water than other crops and can be grown in arid and hot areas. The guayule tires will be used on all four IndyCar street circuits this year, and Bridgestone plans to sell them for street cars by 2030. The recycled plastic used in the tires replaces petroleum-based synthetic rubber, and the fuel used in the engines reduces greenhouse emissions by 60%.
