Simona Halep's Successful Appeal: Doping Ban Reduced to 9 Months

Simona Halep's four-year doping ban has been reduced to nine months after a successful appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling that her anti-doping rule violations were "not intentional." The former world No 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion had been provisionally suspended since October 2022 but is now eligible to return to the sport immediately. The CAS determined that the prohibited substance Roxadustat entered her body through a contaminated supplement and that her anti-doping rule violations were not intentional. Halep, who maintained her innocence throughout, expressed relief and gratitude for the support she received during the long and trying process.
