Red Wings Bolster Roster with Wolverine Alumnus and New Signings

The Detroit Red Wings have added another University of Michigan alumnus to their roster, signing J.T. Compher to a five-year free agent contract worth $5.1 million per season. Compher joins fellow Michigan alums Dylan Larkin and Andrew Copp, potentially forming the Red Wings' top three centers. However, it is more likely that Copp will play wing and slide to center as needed. Compher posted a career-best 52 points for the Colorado Avalanche in the 2022-23 season and brings versatility to the team. The Red Wings also made four other free agent signings, including goalies Alex Lyon and James Reimer, defenseman Justin Holl, and Daniel Sprong.
