Rangers' Maddux content with move from Cardinals.

Former St. Louis Cardinals pitching coach Mike Maddux, who spent the 2018-2022 seasons with the club, is happy with his decision to join the Texas Rangers as their pitching coach. Maddux stepped down at the end of last season despite the Cardinals' intention to bring him back on a new contract. He was headed for retirement after 20 seasons as a coach in the majors, two years as a coach in the minors, and 15 seasons as a big-league pitcher. Maddux returned to the club for which he served as pitching coach from 2009-15, a stretch that included back-to-back American League pennants and postseason appearances in 2010 and 2011.
