August Meekhof of Michigan State won the Golf Association of Michigan's premier event, the Michigan Amateur Golf Championship, with a 2 and 1 victory over Will Anderson from the University of Michigan. Meekhof had previously fallen short in two trips to the semifinals. The match was tied after nine holes before Meekhof took control by winning the 10th and 11th to go 2-up. Anderson cut the deficit in half before Meekhof sealed the victory by making a six-foot birdie putt on No. 17.
