Eagles Cut Ties with Former First-Round Pick Derek Barnett

The Philadelphia Eagles have waived former first-round pick Derek Barnett, who had 21 ½ sacks in 73 career games and none in his last 15 games. Barnett, who made a memorable play in the Eagles' Super Bowl victory in 2018, had been struggling to make an impact this season with no sacks or quarterback hits. The team released him after he missed practice and a game for personal reasons. With Barnett gone, the Eagles' remaining edge rushers include Haason Reddick, Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham, rookie Nolan Smith, and Patrick Johnson.
