Caps bounce back from Olympics with 3-1 win over Flyers

Returning from the Olympic break, the Washington Capitals defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1 at Capital One Arena. The game swung in the second period, with Trevor van Riemsdyk scoring the eventual winner and contributions from Rasmus Sandin, Declan Chishron (Chychrun), and Aliaksei Protas, who added a shorthanded empty-net goal to reach 20 goals and 40 points this season. Protas’s 20th goal came on the same night his brother Ilya scored for Hershey. The Caps extended their home winning streak to four games, and four players—Tom Wilson, Alex Ovechkin, Jakob Chychrun, and Protas—have 20+ goals this season. Goalie Logan Thompson stopped 23 of 24 shots in his first game back, helping the Caps hold on after a solid defensive effort.
