Rossi takes lead over Palou in Indy 500 qualifying.

Alexander Rossi set the pace in the opening qualifying runs for the Indy 500, with a four-lap average of 233.528mph, followed by Chip Ganassi Racing's Alex Palou. The primary target of the six-hour qualifying session is to get inside the top 12 positions, with positions from P13 to P30 to be decided at the end of the day. The slowest four cars will go into a Sunday shootout to decide the final row of the field.
