Maradona's Medical Team to Stand Trial for Death

Eight health professionals, including neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, will stand trial for their alleged role in the death of football legend Diego Maradona. They are accused of "simple homicide with wanton disregard" and could face between eight and 25 years in jail if found guilty. Maradona died on Nov. 25, 2020, aged 60 from heart failure after undergoing brain surgery earlier that month. The trial is expected to start in 2024.
