Homeland Security Investigations agents cracked down on Super Bowl counterfeits in Las Vegas, seizing 4,600 football forgeries and counterfeits worth nearly $1 million. The operation aims to combat the trillions of counterfeit items sold annually, often online, by criminal organizations for nefarious purposes, including identity theft risks for buyers. HSI has also established a website to help football fans spot counterfeit merchandise and seek assistance if they suspect they have purchased fake items.
