Nine charged in theft of sports memorabilia including Yogi Berra's World Series rings and Roger Maris MVP award

Nine men have been accused of conspiring to steal priceless works of art, sports memorabilia, and other objects over a 20-year period. The stolen baseball memorabilia includes World Series rings that belonged to Yogi Berra, individual awards that belonged to Berra and Roger Maris, and a jersey that belonged to Christy Mathewson. The men allegedly melted down the memorabilia and sold the raw metal for significantly less than the stolen items would be worth at fair market value.
