Former Baltimore County Wrestling Coach Acquitted of Child Sex Abuse Charges
A former Mount Saint Joseph wrestling coach, Neil Adleberg, has been found not guilty on all counts in a case alleging sexual abuse of a minor. Adleberg, who had faced charges including rape and sex abuse of a minor, expressed gratitude to his supporters and the judge's attentiveness to the facts of the case. The trial was the only indictment to emerge from a four-year investigation into Catholic Church abuse in Maryland. The Maryland Attorney General's office stated that they will continue investigating sexual abuse associated with the Archdiocese of Baltimore, the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., and the Diocese of Wilmington in Delaware. The judge cited conflicting testimony and the state's failure to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the alleged assault occurred when the accuser was a minor. Adleberg's attorney criticized the state for charging his client without thorough investigation.
