Arrest Made in Theft of Jackie Robinson Statue

Ricky Alderete has been arrested and charged with felony theft, aggravated criminal damage to property, identity theft, and making false information in connection with the theft and destruction of a Jackie Robinson statue in Wichita, Kansas. The statue, valued at $75,000, was stolen from McAdams Park and later found dismantled. The investigation has not revealed evidence of a hate-motivated crime, and police are committed to identifying all individuals involved. Donations have poured in to rebuild the statue, and MLB will cover the cost of creating a new one.
