Taliban Eliminates ISIS-K Leader Responsible for Kabul Airport Bombing

The Taliban has killed the mastermind behind the suicide bombing at Kabul's airport in August 2021 that killed 13 US service members and more than 170 people. The Islamic State (IS) terrorist was killed in southern Afghanistan in early April as part of a series of operations conducted by the Taliban against the IS group. The US military started informing family members of the killed US troops over the weekend. The chaotic scramble to evacuate people from Afghanistan was soon replaced by fear and desperation after the bombing, which was one of America's deadliest days in the nearly 20-year war in Afghanistan.
