Cyclists' Harrowing 45-Minute Battle to Save Friend from Cougar Attack

A group of Seattle-area cyclists fought off a cougar that had attacked one of their own, pinning the animal down in a "hand-to-hand combat" to save their friend. The injured woman, Keri Bergere, sustained neck and face injuries but was treated and released from the hospital. The cyclists, who have been riding together for five years, recounted the harrowing incident and expressed gratitude for each other's heroic actions. Wildlife officers later fatally shot the cougar, while the second cat was not found.
