Rare White Leucistic Alligator Born at Florida Wildlife Park

Gatorland, a wildlife park in Florida, has announced the birth of an exceptionally rare white alligator, one of only eight in the world. The female leucistic alligator hatched in August alongside her normal-colored brother. Leucistic alligators have a partial loss of pigmentation, resulting in white coloration with patches of normal coloration and blue eyes. They are different from albino alligators, which have a complete loss of pigment. Due to their rarity, Gatorland has increased security measures to protect the valuable reptiles. The park plans to put the white alligator and her brother on display next year.
