Fatal Alligator Attack Claims Life of Woman on Hilton Head Island

A 69-year-old woman was killed in an apparent alligator attack on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The woman, who was a resident of the Spanish Wells community, was found unresponsive at the edge of a lagoon bordering a golf course. Rescue efforts were interrupted by an alligator guarding the woman, but it was safely removed and her body was recovered. This is the second fatal alligator attack in Beaufort County in less than a year.
