"Cougar Attack: Cyclists Fight Off Predator on Washington Trail"

A group of five cyclists were attacked by at least one cougar while riding on a trail in Fall City, Wash., with one cyclist hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries. Officers euthanized one cougar on the scene, but eyewitnesses reported a possible second cougar. Cougar attacks are rare in Washington state, with only two fatal attacks and approximately 20 other recorded encounters resulting in human injury in the last 100 years. The WDFW advises people to stand tall, make noise, and fight back if attacked by a cougar.
