Black bear euthanized after biting woman in Avon

A 74-year-old woman was bitten by a black bear while walking her dog in Avon, Connecticut. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and managed to walk back home to call for help. The bear was later euthanized under DEEP's Black Bear Response protocol, which categorizes an attack on a human as a category 4 response. DEEP is investigating the incident and has asked witnesses to come forward.
