Snowmobile Crash Lawyer Sues for $9.5 Million

Massachusetts lawyer Jeffrey Smith, who crashed his snowmobile into a parked Black Hawk helicopter, is suing the government for $9.5 million in damages to cover medical expenses and lost wages. Smith argues that the helicopter crew was negligent for parking on a snowmobile trail and failing to warn snowmobilers of its presence. The government has attempted to dismiss the case, claiming it can't be sued under the Federal Tort Claims Act and casting blame on Smith for the accident. Smith, who suffered severe injuries in the crash, is hoping to win the lawsuit to pay for a procedure that would improve movement in his left arm.
