Cincinnati Zoo Employee Hospitalized Following Rattlesnake Bite

A Cincinnati Zoo employee in the reptile department was hospitalized after being bitten by a highly venomous eastern diamondback rattlesnake. The employee's prognosis is good, and no visitors were at risk. Eastern diamondback rattlesnakes have a venomous bite that can be fatal to humans, but deaths are rare due to the availability of antivenom. Last month, an Amazon delivery driver was also hospitalized after being bitten by the same type of snake in Florida.
