Michigan's I-75 to Introduce Carpool Lanes, Sparking Potential for Future Expansion

Daily lane closures will occur on a section of I-75 in Oakland County as crews install lane markings and signs for high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes. The 14-mile-long HOV lanes are expected to open by the end of October and will operate during peak travel times, requiring vehicles to have at least two occupants. Motorcycles, transit buses, first responders, and emergency vehicles can use the lanes even with only one occupant.
