Thunderstorms caused a ground stop at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport for the second time in a week, halting all flights until conditions improved. Departing flights were cleared for takeoff shortly before 3 p.m., but the ground stop remained in effect for all arriving flights. By 4:18 p.m., the ground stop had been lifted, but delays were expected due to the hourslong stoppage. The airport had been closed for days due to historic flooding, which transformed the runway into a river.
