Tragic Sledding Accident Claims Lives of Illinois Teens at Copper Mountain.

Two 17 and 18-year-old males from Illinois died in a sledding accident at Copper Mountain Ski Resort in Colorado. The teens rode tandem down a half pipe and launched off a large snowbank, landing hard on the ice below, causing blunt force trauma. The Summit County Sheriff's Office reminds everyone to practice safe snow activity habits and be aware of the risks associated with these activities. The cause and manner of death are under investigation, and the teens' identities have not yet been released.
