Tragic Colorado Sledding Accident Claims Lives of 2 Illinois Teens on Spring Break

Two high-school students from Illinois, aged 17 and 18, were killed in a sledding accident while on spring break at Copper Mountain Ski Resort in Colorado. The students were riding in tandem down the halfpipe when they launched off a large snowbank at the bottom and struck hard ice. The resort has a "sledding zone," but the activity is otherwise prohibited in multiple areas, including the halfpipe, which was closed and roped off at the time of the incident.
