Tragedy Strikes: 7-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Trapped in Sand at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Beach

A 7-year-old girl, Sloan Mattingly, died and her 9-year-old brother was critically injured after falling into a sand hole at a beach in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea while on vacation from Indiana. The children were digging in the sand when they became trapped, and despite being taken to the hospital in critical condition, Sloan did not survive. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation by the Broward Sheriff's Office.
